Be Brave & Speak Up

Speaking a new language can be challenging, indeed it is the biggest concern of students coming here, but the people of Olomouc are a welcoming bunch who are nothing but delighted when they hear you using their language. Of course, that is easier said than done, so here is some advice from our Chinese alumni:

• “这里的捷克人素质高，社交环境舒服。”
• “多多和当地人说捷克语而不是英语。”
• “不要害怕交流，主动一些。”

Brush Up On Your Cooking Skills

While Olomouc has a great culinary scene for a small city, at times you are going to feel homesick for some of your favourite food that perhaps can’t be found in the Chinese restaurants, or not how you know it. In that case, you can take advantage of the cooking facilities in the dormitories or your apartment for you and your friends. Most items can now be found in the city, but here are a couple of tidbits from our alumni:

• “锻炼厨艺的时候到了！”
• “多带点火锅底料。”

Enjoy the Experience!

While you are in Olomouc to obviously study, not all of that learning takes place in the classroom. Don’t forget to enjoy everything the city and surroundings have to offer and socialise as much as possible. This is a common piece of advice from our Chinese alumni:

• “好好享受在欧洲的生活。”
• “多交朋友，多出去玩。”
• “多出去玩，别总学习。”
